Smoked Rosemary Blackberry Bourbon Sour

Using the cocktail smoker and additionally torching the rosemary created a powerfully fragrant drinking experience, while the whiskey and blackberry simple syrup brought depth of flavor that was deeply satisfying. Ingredients

  • 4-6 fresh blackberries, plus more for garnish
  • 2 oz bourbon whiskey
  • 1 oz lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 oz blackberry simple syrup*
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary
  • Ice
* To make the blackberry simple syrup: combine 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup sugar, and 8-10 blackberries in a small saucepan over low-medium heat until sugar is dissolved and blackberries are broken down. Then run everything through a fine mesh strainer and let it cool. Store in the refrigerator until needed.

 Directions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the blackberries and add bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup then fill with ice.
  2. Use a cocktail smoker to infuse the ingredients with notes of smokiness.
  3. Pour your smoked cocktail into a glass with ice and garnish with additional blackberries and a sprig of rosemary. Finally, use a match or lighter to torch the rosemary.
