Ingredients

Coffee cake:

  • 1 egg
  • 1.5 c flour
  • 1/4 c vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, diced
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1/2 c white sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Cream Cheese Layer:

  • 1 block of cream cheese
  • 1/4 c white sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

2. Combine the butter, sugar, and brown sugar and mix until fluffy.

3. Then add the egg, oil, and vanilla and mix until combined.

4. In a separate bowl stir together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.

5. Add in the wet ingredients until just combined.

6. Mix in the diced apples, then spread into the prepared 8x8 baking dish.

7. In another bowl mix together the softened cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until creamy. Then spread over the cake evenly.

8. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes until set.

9. While the cake is still hot, dust the top with a cinnamon-sugar mixture and let cool.
